First Inking

For both me and the pen! Thought I might escape the inked finger, but it didn't work out that way

The Pilot Metropolitan with Parker Quink writes very nicely, no problems with flow, and is really a great pen considering the low price. Thanks for all the advice and recommendations, I'm very satisfied with this as my first fountain pen... Now it's only a matter of time before my AD kicks in and I find myself surrounded by them!

Thanks again Gents!

Beautiful. Enablers, your job is done here.

Glad you're happy, congrats!

Great news ya'ay

one question though,... how come your filling the converter with the syringe, instead of leaving it in the section and sucking up through the nib ?

sucking up through the nib also kind of primes it for use, but will most likely end up with you having a blue finger lol, doing it this way can keep things clean but take a bit to get it to start to flow

Nothing wrong with it, just curious as to if you knew you could suck up through the nib, or why you choose to do it this way

I know some people do that so that there's no risk of contaminating their ink, with whatever ink residue may be left in the pen.

The pen didn't come with instructions, just the pen, one cartridge, and the converter. I didn't get the ink the same day, so I tried out the cartridge (which was not very good ink, BTW).

I got all my things together today and pulled (and discarded) the cartridge, and thought I had to fill the converter prior to loading it.

A quick Google search shows that all I had to do was squeeze the bladder with the nib in the ink... I always was one to work harder than smarter

Don't worry, there should be a thread called "Dumb things I did with my first fountain pen", it would be a mile long! James, feel free to steal my idea :biggrin1:

Congrats, got the first inking out of the way ;-) It doesn't get better either, lol. I spent some time tonight trying to scrub Noodler's Baystate Blue off my fingers.

I had a feeling, thats why I asked, again there is nothing wrong with doing it that way... and your less likely to get yourself inked up... but you can leave it in the pen
