What's new

First go with a Merkur 39c Slant

I received my new Merkur 39c Slant yesterday after a few months of considering buying one. Today, I loaded it up with a Feather blade did my prep and whipped up a batch of Proraso after using some Proraso pre/post.

My first reaction was that I am going to need to get used to a larger, heavier razor. In all honesty, the weight is fine, it's adjusting to the larger size that's going to take a bit of time.

As for it's cutting ability the slant delivered as advertised. When my technique was good it sliced my beard like a gas-powered weed whacker through grass. What surprised me was how smooth it was. There are times I can tell I'm using a feather blade because it's not always the smoothest blade around. In the Slant, it was very smooth and comfortable.

The result was an amazingly close shave approaching BBS with some trouble spots because of poor technique from getting used to the new handle. But overall, this razor makes for easy work and even makes it easy to take out the hair on my neck that is often a challenge for other razors. I'm looking forward to using this razor throughout the Christmas season to perfect my technique and get some amazing results. And thanks for the folks who wrote the reviews - the were a big influence in my decision to buy the Sledgehammer and were spot on accurate.

Congrats on the good experience with the slant. The slant does indeed give a different shave, and you might have to adjust your technique for the slant. Glad it went well for you. :yesnod: :a14:
