First English Soap TOBS Lav

This puck surprised me a bit, often hearing problems with the english pucks out there,

but this was easy to lather I spent 30 seconds on the puck with a wet kent blk4 a soft brush,

as you can see from the picture, this is after the load without any building direct from the puck after spending time whipping it up i had no difficulties getting more lather then i could possibly need for a three pass shave

I did shave with it the other night and fount it to be a pretty good little soap, enough that i would try other products from TOBS or GFT in the future, I do have some D.R. Harris on the way and can not wait to get that under brush, the shave itself was comfortable i was not blown away by it but i found nothing wrong the scent of the lavender is a bit soapy, liek fancy hand soaps at grandmas house that your not allowed to use lol, my skin felt protected and i felt a bit of tingle after the shave, but nothing post shave products ( WH/ Aqua Velva) didnt clear up quickly

would i buy this again, maybe not this scent but another for sure i would pass thru the den again its a good little soap at 16 bucks a puck it is not the best value out there, but then it isnt the worst either,

overall i would rate this as a decent soap, not the best but far from bad continued use and becoming more familiar with it may improve it some but i dont think it will become that much better

considering i can get pucks of C&E for 9 bucks, MWF for 13, Calani at 10-15, Cade for same price of 16, im not sure this would become a regular in my den at that price. But with some of the scents offered there may be one or two i would like to try out from time to time for sure

after a lot of reading on here i find a lot of people prefer the D.R. Harris line to most other English products, but i cant say much to that till I try it, if you havent yet Brian i would have yourself some arlington goodness, i have had a chance to smell it, and that stuff is fantastic,.. I Think I may try some TOBS creams before going soap again with them though

D.R. Harris is a great soap but irritates my face from time to time. TOBS soaps show that you don't need tallow to get a great lather and shave.

I think my only tallow is in the MWF, most of my other products are veggie and MWF isnt my top guy by any means,.. cant stress it enough, a good product is a good product and tallow has nothing to do with it as long as it is a quality product it will do its job, my top three soaps are all veggie MWF would make my top five for sure though

they only make one soap dont they ? ive seen some not nice things about the pucks, but have never tried it myself

btw clueless are you coming to the meetup on sunday, there should be lots of stuff to try out nd sniff there if you can make it

I found that the TOBS soaps like a like a little more water to improve slickness. The shave is great and the lather is not as thick as what some other soaps produce.

How are T&H soaps? I never hear about them around here though their creams are popular.

The one and only(at the moment) T&H soap has gone from a good performer to another English flop. Don't waste your money on this one. The TOBS soaps are far superior, and the D.R. Harris even more so.

That's sad as I enjoyed the T&H 1805 and Lavender shave cream scents from the sampler.

I lathered up a puck of TOBS Lavender a little while back and quite enjoyed it. I don't believe that the shaving was quite as good as that provided by a Harris soap, but the scent of the TOBS soap was far superior to Harris' Lavender.

that was a big eye opener for sure cvac, always appreciate the huge time you put into those tests
