First DE shave today

Today I got my first DE shave

I used a Gillette Super speed razor, tweezermans badger hair brush, personna blades, and a Col. Conk shave soap.

As for the closeness of the shave, it was excellent. The soap was very easy to make into a lather, and overall very pleasant.

My only complaint was the irritation of the shave. I assume its because I used too much pressure, since I'm new, and also the personna blades. They have gotten bad reviews, but since they were available locally, I thought it would be great if I like them, since they would be easier to get.

I have some Derby blades which I'll use tomorrow, and some merker and feather blades for backup. I'll perfect my technique, try a few other blades and get back with you guys in a few days.

Excellent. Better to do several passes lightly then pressing which causes irritation not to mention blood.

You might have a bit better results with the Derby blades but like the others have said- Do several passes with a very light touch.

Also, when I started out, I always got my worst shaves when I would really try for a perfectly smooth result so maybe resist the temptation for now to really get it perfect. Invisible stubble is better than visible irritation, IMO. In time, very smooth shaves will come easily as your technique improves and your face gets more used to the closeness of the DE razor.

I'm new on these forums too, but welcome aboard!
