First DE shave on the road

Normally, my travel razor is a Sensor, due to the TSA situation and the fact that I almost always share bathroom time with others, so a quick, easy shave is key.

Well, I'm on a trip with my wife and I have plenty of time to myself during the day. I figured I'd finally take a DE with me to see how it goes.

The razor is a Lord with a Merkur-type head (I think this is the redesigned "Tech clone"). I brought along the Personna Platinum Chrome DE blades, both for low cost and easy availability - if I ever need to hit a Wal-Mart, Meijer or other big retailer for DE blades, I'll know what I'm in for. The cream was KMF vanilla.

Another new dimension to the experience was that I shaved at the sink for the first time in over 20 years. Shower shaving works really well for me, but I wanted to shake things up a bit.

The result was a SAS/DFS. The Lord razor is very mild, yet left me looking nicely shaved and irritation-free. It was by no means a BBS, but at this point, I don't want to try to duplicate my shaves at home. I'll definitely do this again tomorrow. I may not get unlimited hotel bathroom time like this for a long time...

Right - Mine has the aluminum handle with a Merk-style head. I've seen it marketed as the Lord Primium, L6 and LP1822.

I also have the Lord Smart, which is the Merk-style head on a long plastic handle, a la Gillette Knack.
