With a Feather, especially for the first 2-3 shaves on a fresh blade you MUST use ZERO pressure.

ZERO PRESSURE!

Once you master that, the shaves are awesome. Shaves 4-12 are much less demanding.

I started having success with my Feather when I took a tip from another B&B member. Stop trying to shave your whiskers and concentrate on lifting the lather, as gently as you can, from your skin. It still took a little practice, but this technique worked for me. I started out as bloody as you and now get a great shave from my Feathers. Also don't shave ATG at all until you can get a close comfy shave XTG. Often an extra pass XTG gives me a BBS shave with the feathers. Don't give up. Its worth the practice when you get the hang of it.

Yep, pressure is the biggest mistake you can make with a non folding straight, also with a folding. Be sure to watch your angle also. Start with the blade flat against your face, and use short strokes.

Someone in another Feather thread suggested acting as if you were shaving a balloon. For some reason that made sense to me. After about 10-15 shaves I got the hang of it. Definitely a learning curve...
