What's new

First cup of the New Year

Well it is the beginning of 2013, and I'm sure that the Speakeasy is full of people talking about their NYE drinking choices but I've decided to have a sober start to the new year with a cup of Earl Grey from the good people of Tetley. Done the less than proper way taught to me by Douglas Adams (read Salmon of Doubt). After driving around the fair city of Edmonton with a cigar in one hand, the steering wheel in the other and CBC on the radio I realized I needed a good drink as well. Sadly all I had was a bottle of water which didn't have much flavour to it. Tea was what I wanted, needed, and now exactly what I have. Of course anyone that knows me knows that as soon as I enter a subforum on the B&B knows I usually pick up an AD from from in fairly quickly. You will see more of me.

What else did people start the new year with?

Mine was a Kenyan coffee from George Howell's Terroir Coffee that I brewed in a French Press. I don't make it that way too often but when I have some good Kenyan beans I will make it that way!

Rich & strong and makes me ready to face 2013

I started the new year with a cup of Jamaica Blue Mountain, medium roast. The hype is not worth the price, but it's still a damn good cup of coffee.

Finished a bag of Ristretto Roasters Beaumont Blend. When it's raining so much I can't roast under the tree proper like, this is the place I go buy a bag.

Glad to hear that from a Mod.

Never tried it, but always wanted to given the reputation. Now I'm thinking I'd rather save my dough for some other hobbies before I try to pick up some Jamaica Blue Mountain.

Anyway, my first cup of the new year was a french press of Kenya Grand Cru from Whole Foods via Allegro roasters.

Happy New Year to all!

Airport/Airline coffee. It was drinkable but not very good.

My first home brew was some Brazil Conquista, I did a poor job of brewing but it was still the best cup of the new year.
