My school sent me a survey that said I would get twenty bucks at amazon if I took it. So I did and I am thinking about buying the Edwin Jagger 1EJ947 Best Badger English Shaving Brush. It's listed at $42.95, so I'd only be paying about $23 for it. Is this a very good brush, or should I look for something else?

Looks to be the well regarded EJ Best Badger Brush to me. Didn't know it had a model number as I never did see it or hear mention to it, but I'm pretty sure it is. Someone should come along and confirm it.
At the very least I had an Edwin Jagger brush when I first started, and it was a good brush in Best Badger. I did sell it though pretty soon as it was a little too prickly for my face. I'm a bit sensitive though, and you might like that slight scrubby feeling it gives.
The best you can do is give consideration to the type of brush you want, ask for help from the fine members here, and then just ultimately make a gut feeling about a brush and start from there!

I had one, and it was alright, but for the money you can do better.
The Simpsons Special is $49 on Amazon. Being on Amazon really limits the options, because there are only a few brushes on it and they are all overpriced. You can buy that same brush for $36 at Penworks.
Might not be a bad idea to see if anyone in your family is interested in a swap. Been there done that (I'm currently a college student).
