What's new

Finished another Ever Ready

I haven't seen too many of these around in my searches on B&B. It's an Ever Ready 300 which is half Lucite. It was pretty easy to clean up and knock out the old shelf. Removed most the issues from the top and repainted the inside with testors so you couldn't see into it through the bottom. There's a couple tiny dings that you really need to look hard for, but I didn't want to sand too much off. The Lucite just took a bit of cleaning and polishing and it seems great.

As far as knot, I decided on a 24mm TGN Finest with extra hair, in a bulb shape. Couldn't decide what loft I wanted so I went with 52mm. I feel that the finest knots have enough backbone for face lathering and it still has the height for bowl, so it's a bit of a switch hitter. Now I just have to decide if I want to sell it or keep it. I just have so many brushes, lol. Pictures don't do it justice but I just snapped them real quick while running out the door.

Looks very nice - like the top half of a 200 with a pretty Lucite base. Care to share more detail of your process on the Lucite?

Thanks to all for the compliments.

Chris, my process with the lucite was just working my way up with sand paper. Started at about 800 grit and went up to something like 4000, all while wet. Then applied 3 different types of polish. That part wasn't necessary but I was still experimenting with the brands or processes to see which I liked most. I used the Meguirs plastic headlight restoration, Flitz and a Novus 3 part kit. The lucite is quite beautiful in person now with all that done. In the future I'll probably just use 1 of the polishing products, but I think they all accomplish the same thing. Just make sure you use a plastic polish and not something that's too gritty or specifically made for metal. If you do, you might end up with micro scratches on it after.

Here's a few pictures of the lucite portion over some Fougere cream from QCS. The first picture the handle was held away from it, the second I laid the brush on top of it. As you can see, it's pretty clear!

Nice! Very nice!

Thanks again, all!

Erik (Taco), The Wee Rover is amazing. It's hard to tell in the pictures but the handle has a sort of marble to it. Almost like a Pearl or ivory imitation. It's an awesome brush, should be amazing for travel and I LOVE the knot in it!
