SO HOW DOES IT PERFORM?

Brush: Semogue 22/49 Targa-C3 Finest Mistura
Soap: Vitos Red
Razor: Fine Aluminum Slant
Blade: Feather (3)
ASL: Proraso Red

Well, I thought the FOCS (Fatip Open Comb Slant) was at the top of the tree, but not now. This baby is AMAZING!

It’s more aggressive than the FOCS, but oh so smooth.

It’s as if this razor was made just for me. Here’s a few random things I like about it:
  • CNC machined aluminum construction. So everything (blades included) fit perfectly.
  • Light weight ensures my technique is up to scratch. Any hopping immediately tells me to adjust pressure appropriately. (Mind you, at 32g it’s twice the weight of my (16g) PBOCS (Phoenix Bakelite Open Comb Slant.)
  • The blade tabs are not covered. So I can handle the blades safely (by the tabs).
  • At 73mm, the handle sits nicely in the middle of my 70mm to 75 mm preferred handle length range (for comfort and maneuverability).
  • The knurling on the “grip” section of the handle is brilliant (no alumed fingers needed here).
  • The razor can be stood on end due to the flat bottomed handle.
  • The over-all look (and shine) turns me on.
  • It shaves like a dream!
  • There’s more… but I’ll stop now.
Obviously some folk will hate what I love. Good ol’ YMMV.

Very nice. How would you say it compares to the FOCS? E.g.,+4 in efficiency while +1 in aggressiveness? Or, better yet, in percentage terms?

Bear in mind that I've only had one shave with the Fine... so the figures above are based on my first impression.

Did anyone ever tell you that you are a razor slut? You can't even stay loyal to your last razor love for a few short months before inviting this thing into your life! Disgraceful! You just don't give a FOCS, do you?

Btw, are you still in the sabbatical?

And, can you switch the handle out for something more grippy?

Remember to forget me!
SHINY!!!

I like the looks of the handle on that, particularly the grip from the relieved sections. The head... not so much. 🤣 That looks like the stuff of nightmares to me :biggrin1:

Glad to hear you're so happy with it, Cal :thumbup1:

Raven Koenes

My precious!
You must be thinking of Rave @Raven Koenes, it's Cal here. What is a sabbatical anyway? :letterk1:

I take it you did a TL;DR on the OP.:wink2: The handle is plenty grippy.

But if you wanted to change it, no problem. It doesn't have a Fatip thread.

Yup, this is Rave, as in not Cal, and I'm still going strong in the 2020 Sabbatical. It looks like I just might make it. That's how you know it's 2020! :letterk1:

Thanks for this. You are correct that I did a TL DR.

Thank you, @Cal - It's rare that I get to use this clip. ;) 🤣

How does it compare to a Wunderbar?
I have no idea, sorry. I only have three slants:

PBOCS (Phoenix Bakelite Open Comb Slant) 16g
FOCS (Fatip Lo Storto Originale) 67g
Fine Slant Razor (polished aluminum) 32g

^ Above is the order of purchase. Reverse that for podium places.

Would you say it it much more likely to nick you?
I can't remember the last time I nicked myself. That's probably due to me being a technique freak, and a permanent SWB. And that's probably a long way of saying "I don't know."
Or just has more blade feel?
It does have more blade feel.
I admit I’m intrigued...it is SO SLANTED.
Sure it's a little more slanted than the FOCS, but I don't think it's HUGELY slanted. But I'm no expert. Hopefully @efsk, our local friendly Slant Aficionado, might chip in on this matter.
