What's new

Finally, razor/brush stand pics

The pictures really don't do justice. I could not get the lighting right. Night just never helps. Used the range in the house with overhead lighting and a flash.

This is a red oak top, with Minwax early american stain.

The bottom is Osage Orange or in the south referred to as bodark (pronounced bow.dock) no stain it really is Golden yellow naturally. Bodark is also extremly hard it gets razor burn itself and can shoot off sparks when cutting. Its specific gravity is .80 dry and weighs in at 56 lbs/cu.ft.
All wood was triple coated in Minwax polyurethane for water protection.
ENJOY!!!! I know I will :biggrin1:

Did you just glue the top and bottom pieces to that back piece on a square edge, or did you put some kind of a dovetail joint together? I have been contemplating making one, but have been hesitant because I want to make sure I have enough surface area to get the strength.

As for attaching the top and bottom I just used wood glue. Unless you are making a huge stand holding alot of weight you don't need anything more. After gluing it I was going to put soom finishing nails in it for added strength, but 4 razors and 2 brushes just don't warrant such construction. The dimensions I will post later. The stand was modeled after gbernard's

I just tweaked it for my needs. His PDF was sure helpful. It was very rewarding and quite simple to make. The finishing process took the most time which is always the case. Next stop brush handles and then razor handles.
