Finally ordered a Progress

I have narrowed my razor lineup to three DEs and a straight. The three DEs are a Futor, a Merkur slant, and a DE87 Ivory. I've been meaning to buy a Progress for a while, and yesterday I pulled the trigger. I was ordering some Floid Vigoroso AS and figured I'd order a razor so my order qualified for free shipping. I was waiting to get a Mergress because I thought the metal knob looked better than the white one that comes stock, but I can always use the original for a while and wait for a Mergress to hit the BST and have both.

I love my Futor and am hoping to get a similar experience from this one. I know the Progress is milder but I'm optimistic. Can't wait for it to get here.

the futur is a great razor as is the Merkur slant but for me the Progress 510 is without equal, ymmv.

the progress isn't mild when you dial it up, you will not regret your purchase.

Congrats, I have been using my Progress for about a year. Love it. I started on 0 setting then gradually move up to 3.5. After a while found that I prefer it set at 1. This is the beauty of the progress. You can determine the aggressiveness . I found that my technique is better at 1. While at 3.5 yes it was sharp but I was always worried about cutting myself. I have been pairing it with personna med prep blades for a consistent great daily shave

The Progress is a wonderful razor and if you are interested many models to collect. New, vintage, chrome, gold, Mergress, BRW, Ikon versions, Digress (British) you can collect quite a stable of them. Absolutely great shave.

I have a long handled progress and I wouldn't get rid of it for the world (well maybe the world.....)

I recently got a gold one and immediately found I like the lower settings. I thought, "hey, been shaving for 40 years, I like my Fatboy on 5," -- haha, that thing is humbling -- I'm back to 1.5!

Now I need to try a modern one! Great shaves.

Congrats. I got a Progress and stopped using all other razors. Then I sent it to Eric to have the Mergress customization done and couldn't be happier.

Congrats. I own both long and short Mergress razors and they are amazing. Also started at 1, moved to 2.5, then to 3 and returned to 1. Touchup on 3 sometimes but not very often.

Great choice. Before moving to str8's, I tried the Slim, Futur, and Progress, and the Progress was the one I liked the most. Weight adjustability, ergonomics, etc - it just felt right
