What's new

Finally got my Whipped dog silver tip badger brush.

So, I finally got my new brush and did a comparison on the lathering quality between my tweezerman badger brush and the whipped dog 24 mm silver tip badger brush. It's a difference between night and day between the two brushes the silver tip lathers better and is noticeably softer.

I had a custom made brush I will follow-up with pictures at a later time.

I just received a Whipped Dog Silver Tip, too, but not a custom. It had almost no odor and it performed great. Really extraordinary value I think.

Default I think I choose the handle from his site and had customer harvest orange and blue accent at the top. I will post picture when I get home from work.

You are comparing a very good brush and probably the best bang for buck deal to one of the worst brushes on the market and an equally bad deal.

I went from a Tweezerman to a WD Brush :) Was a nice improvement but i sold the WD not long after, wasn't for me.

I am waiting for his next batch of brushes to come in to pickup a 24mm. Trying to decide how high to have it set. Seems most users here that have a WD brush recommend getting it lowered a bit from the default for extra backbone. Let me know what you think of the lathering power and what you soap/cream you typically use.

Also if anyone else has one, what is the loft? 48mm, 50mm, 52mm, etc...

Pics or it never happened. Where's Alex and "Spot"?

The soup I use is green mountain and it is a harder lather with this soup on a tweezerman than it is with the WD brush.

Here is what I use.

Sweet handle on that WD! I've been tempted by the Firehouse Pottery handles but I'm hesitant about how they would fail if dropped on my ceramic tile floor. Can anyone vouch?

Whipped Dog brushes are great. I absolutely love mine. I got this handle discounted as one of his "cosmetic blemish" handles, but I could never figure out what was wrong with it. Paid $26 total for a 20mm Silvertip drilled to a 48mm loft. It's just a fantastic brush and was a massive upgrade over the first Col. Conk brush that I had.

I've got several. I think his default loft is 55mm. I've got a 22mm w/ default depth, a 20mm set at 45mm, and one of his synthetics (which is quickly becoming my favorite).

you can do about anything you want with 'em, and play 20 question email tag all day long with Larry till you understand everything and have what you want.

his brushes are by far the best bang for the buck to be found anywhere in my opinion. a $26 silvertip is as good as any other $100-150 name branded brush out there. all day long.

Thanks. Exactly what I feared!

Yes, but he sell all kinds of different handles too. I'm just careful with mine it took about 2-3 weeks to get a custom made. If it breaks from dropping $35 is not a deal breaker for me. I have a back up brush and would order a new one in a heart beat from Larry @ WD.

I have a 24mm @50mm loft and a 22mm @ 45mm loft. There is a big difference in splay between the brushes. I think the sweet spot for the loft would be 46-48mm.
