Filarmonica numbering

Can anyone tell me the significance of the numbering (12, 13, etc) on Filarmonica razors?

its the size,
#14 usually 8/8
#13 7/8
#12 6/8
etc

The conversion formula is ((Filarmonica # + 2) - 8) / 8. For example, Filarmonica 14 is (14+2-8)/8 = 8/8.

My Filly 14 is about 7/8. A Filly 10 I recently had was 4/8. A Filly 13 was about 6/8.

There is a post on SRP by John Crowely where he interviewed Wacker and asked about razor sizes. It sounded to me like the differences in measurements are because razors were not done in eights of an inch. I know I linked to the SRP thread once here on B&B already... Let me go find it again.
