The sellers pictures looked cleaner than these so I really hope these scales aren't gassing off. I'll need to keep a close eye on this over the next few days.
The edge is in very poor state with some large chips especially towards the toe. It's almost like a saw blade in parts so I ran it repeatedly over a steel slab with a bit more than the weight of the blade to get rid of jagged edges.
I made an outline of the blade before I did anything to the blade to see how much Filly goodness I was going to loose.

A few more hours at higher grits. The scales themselves were in good condition, just needed a good clean inside which I managed without having to unpin the wedge end. Mostly 00000 wool but needed sandpaper right at the wedge.
As with Filarmonicas they require a nail style pin
