FFFMM (Fixed Four For March Madness) 2023 Edition

FFFMM Head Shave

Yep, it's the same, boring shave. No real drama.

The nice part about head shaving is you don't know that the back of your head is bleeding. The aftershave may try and notify you, but...is that a nick?...or just a bit of irritation?...who cares?

Razor:
Blackbird Lite SS and SR-36 Bronze handle
Blade: Personna (1) with shim
Brush: Semogue Torga Mistura C3
Soap: Zingari Man the Wanderer
ASL: Pinaud Clubman

Well that was a nice shave.
I know that adding a shim during a fffmm is a no-no, but the Lite wasn't cutting it, (pun intended).
The shim didn't make a dramatic change in blade feel, but it did up the efficiency to acceptable levels.
The shave was a WTG, ATG, WTG, and an ATG finish pass on my neck.
The Witch hazel felt like glassy water, the Clubman was refreshing, and the Nivea Balm confirmed a close and irritation free shave.

Last night’s luxury shave
GEM Micromatic Open Comb
Personna GEM PTFE (7)
Damp washcloth aka “shave binky”
Simpson Wee Scot 13mm badger brush
Pre-shave: hot shower and a dollop of aloe
Lather: Wickhams 1912 Club Cola Soap, face-lathered
Aftershave: Ulm Nom
Post-shave: face wash with shave binky

A close, quick shave and the upper lip was no problem. Aftershave stung a bit because I forced the shave. Will see what a fresh blade and abject terror does next time.

FFFMM - Shave #19

Razor:
RazoRock Lupo .95 SB
Blade: Dorco Titan
(2nd Use)
Brush: AP Shave Co. Aluminum Layered Comfort handle w/Mühle STF 25mm @~55mm
Soap: Unscented With Beeswax by Stirling Soap Co.

Post-Shave:
Pinaud Clubman After Shave Lotion
Stirling's Post Shave Balm (unscented)

Three pass shave (last pass is more or less cleanup).

Spectacular shave today. Everywhere smooth. The splash gave me only a hint of sting. I noticed a weeper on my neck after I put the balm on ... very minor. Anyway, a darn fine shave, DFS+.

Lightness ruled the roost for last night’s shave. My favorite part was finding the angles on my chin that didn’t tug going ATG. Even with a popping’ fresh GEM blade, a very Guillotine-like presentation was needed to keep the edge from hanging up in the whiskers and pull more than cut.

The upper lip; unlikely scourge of the unshimmed Micromatic; was shaved without irritation. To ruin any impression of success, the tiniest weeper presented right under the middle of the nose.

There was another very tiny weeper on my neck because I was weed-whacking some whiskers. Still, no aftershave sting, so yay me.

One week of FFFMM shaves left and it’s all coming together.
