What's new

fern lovers?

It looks like the whole range is actually made with fern. Ordinarily, I don't think that there's any fern in a fougere, is there? As far as I know, it just describes the general feeling of the fragrance.

I prefer a soap like Penhaligon's English Fern with brush.

Many of these brushless all behave the same, which is sort of okay. Some are okay, some can be terrible.

yeah, but people say pen soaps suck now. just wondering if anyone's tried it. brushless hadn't even crossed my mind, something i should have probably considered. looks like they sell it at sears... $20 shaving cream seems steep for sears.

I'd take a good whiff of it before I buy it too--like I said, I'd be surprised if it smells anything like what you expect in a fougere.

+1, but how exciting would it be if it turned out to work with a brush and actually resembled a nice fougere. If anyone tries it let us know. :thumbup1:

yeah but pens reformulated their old soap and i'm not paying that much to try it, although i agree about the brushless thing, i pretty much think all brushless creams kind of suck. anyway, i've decided not to try it.

a nice inexpensive fougere is taylor of old bond street sensitive in the black tub. very green. very ferny. excellent performance and minimal price

I just bought and tried a refill puck of Pen's new EF. Terrible. You'd get a better shave with a brushless cream. I'll probably end up grating it with an unscented puck of AoS to make it useable. Just thought I'd throw that out there for the folks wondering about the reformulation.

Thanks for this info. I just bought a tub of the TOBs and am eager to give it a try.

I have not tried their products but if you want a really nice fern cream, then go for Fitjar's norwegian fern.
