February 2025 Gentlemanly Restraint Until Month End (GRUME)

Used up the Bevel cream yesterday. Never figured out how to make a great lather with it. Today I switched to an old Gillette 2-in-1 I got on vacation years ago. My first time lathering it with a brush, it actually worked pretty well! I’ll enjoy working through the bottle more than I originally thought.

Third shave with the Slim… bounced around 4-7, trying to figure out this razor.

I’m with Guido — points for style in any case The MdC Absinthe is on my short list for when I run out of soap, not sure I could resist if it was literally under my nose.

@Mesquite: When Absinthe is under your nose, even knowing you have three lifetimes of shaving soap, it’s no use. Your knees will buckle and you will gladly pull out your wallet.

Razor: GC.84 SB, Al Handle, Astra SP #1
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea Balm

I chose the .84 plate, and loaded a fresh Astra. The combination of new blade, milder razor and SV lather gave me an excellent near-BBS result.

While I didn’t get on with the Bevel cream, their aftershave balm is great. Absorbs quickly, not greasy at all, tea tree tingle.

I always get a super-slick lather with Palmolive. The blade had smoothed out on shave 2, for an easy near-BBS.
