February 2025 Gentlemanly Restraint Until Month End (GRUME)

Still In.....

My gear shown above came to the bathroom as they like to travel, they prefer the Captain's Choice Bowl, they say pockets in my pajama bottoms gets too stuffy and hot...

Razor & Blade: 1959 Gillette Fatboy loaded with the final Rapira Blade.
Lather Gear: The Yaqi Brush whipped that Stirling Sandpiper Shave Soap in the Captain's Choice Bowl a bit drier today but still a good lather and it seemed a little more slidey today. Next shave i will try this again.
Aftershave Gear: Omega Alum and Stirling Soap Deep Blue Sea Balm finished off today's shave.

Today's shave as usual was WTG, ATG AXTG and was a good shave but i needed to widen my Gillette to a 7 width 5 wasn't slicing my face fur at all as it usually does (i usually use 3 on every other day shaves and 5 if i'm a day over) today was the 4th day since my last shave. I had to make more of the same passes than i typically do, almost double. Because of my technique (i believe) gave me 5 weepers, 3 on my throat by my neck, 2 on either side of my chin. Only 1 weeper remained bleeding at the end of my shave that Omega kindly stopped.

This 7th shave of the February GRUME was a 5/10 for me and a 10 out of my gear.

Day 18, 64.3% complete

Lather: Nivea Men Shaving Creme
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.84 SB, Al Handle, Wizamet #2

The second shave with the Wizamet was a bit smoother. I got another easy DFS.

Old Type, Tatara (8) blade — I typod that as 8 last time, this time it’s more likely correct :) 1-2 passes with some ATG on the cheeks and around jaw. Painless bloodless shave … then somehow had a couple pinpoints of red show up after aftershave plus a full minute.

Blade starting to feel a bit more scrapey, but still smooth and cutting well, no tugging. Got some better than average results on my face and around jawline for the same number of passes.

Day 19, 67.9% complete

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Lather: Boots Cool Cologne Shaving Cream
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC1.05 SB, Al Handle, Wizamet #3
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea Balm

The month is ⅔ done already!

Since the blade was smoothed out, I switched to the big gap Game Changer. It works best with a smooth blade that doesn't have to be ultra-sharp.

I got a comfortable near-BBS.

Still in...
Gillette NEW long comb, with a Maggard MR11 handle. The Gillette handle is split on both ends and not secure, but the stainless fits well enough.
Brush is a Boti Badger that I bought last July but haven't really used much. It actually is really good though. I'll likely make more of an effort to use it....
The shave was just sublime - seriously smooth with no burn or irritation. I had 2 days' growth, and thought the Gillette New / FlyDear combo would be too mild, but I did a 2 pass shave and didn't feel the need to go for a third - it was an office day, and the finish was DFS+, which is more than adequate, but it was just super smooth and comfortable!
