Yep - my favorite blade so far! Super close shave with zero irritation.

I've tried about 8 different brands that have been thrown in with recent purchases or sample packs, and just bought a bunch of Feathers from Fendrihan's.

I too love Feathers when I use my DE. I usually use a straight. I really don't understand the "fear" of these blades. Razors are supposed to be sharp! :wink2:

I tried feathers last week, I have never really been scared of them but was waiting a bit. My shave was good but my face had lots of burn after. My next shave I went back to astra sp's and never had that problem again

i used a feather in a ball end tech for the first time a few days ago. i must say that i think it is an excellent blade. nothing to be afraid of at all - the sharper the better because that's how you cut the hair!

i must admit though that i did end up with some bumps/sore spots on my neck a day later - probably because the feather just revealed my still developing noob technique to me.

I'm certain individuals that don't get good results with Feather either don't have their technique down or their technique is oriented towards duller blades. Once you get the hang of Feathers, they are an excellent blade. Of course, YMMV.

I think the advice to have your technique down before you try Feathers is dead on target: you'll find out how good your technique is very quickly. My first Feather shave was a bit rough, although there wasn't any bleeding; subsequent shaves were quite close and comfortable. Going back to my regular blade after using the two Feathers that came with my razor was disappointing, to say the least; my shave wasn't nearly as close or as comfortable. I promptly ordered a stock of Feathers from West Coast Shaving and I'm now eagerly awaiting their arrival.

All this Feather talk caused me to take another shot.

Been using the IP's in the blue wrapper for three years, usually with my 40's SS.

Well...it must be that my technique does not respect the Feather; I left half my chin in the sink, and donated a pint of blood down the drain.

But I will try again tomorrow. I need to slow down, make zero passes unless there is lather on the face, and not press so hard.

I remain optimistic...:001_smile

I agree. I waited to try them until I felt my technique was pretty good. So I used one for the first time in my new Merkur Slant and got a really close shave with a couple of small nick's and no burning or irritation. But I would definitely only use that razor and bade combination if I know I can take my time. I tried it once when I was in a hurry and let's just say the results were less than favorable. I still think it's a great blade but probably not if your just starting out. Of course YMMV

Can't understand the fear hype...First time I tried them I knew....Why would anyone settle for less than the effortless smooth, irritation free shave that a Feather delivers. Slow, steady, and no pressure = BBS :thumbup1:

Thanks! You just gave me the courage to try one tomorrow out of my sample pack. I've been hesitate to do it because of all the scariest warnings around here.
