Feather + TOBS + Gillette Tech = Winning Combination

I have a 1960s aluminum tech that I've been using with Feather blades, TOBS sandalwood shaving cream, a $10 badger bush and it's been producing an awesome shave with a two pass technique. Prep by cleaning my face with some castille soap from Dr Bronners (citrus) and then a hot towel. Lather on the TOBS, one pass WTG, wash, relather, another pass XTG and I'm done.

It's pretty thick but I get a pretty good shave none the less. The only problem area is under my chin and low on my neck where I get bumps. I found that skipping the aftershave is the key with TOBS as without aftershave I can shave daily. A third ATG pass like many recommends just scrapes my neck too raw.

Try some Witch Hazel after your shave, especially if you want to skip the aftershave...I find that it works wonders

I find that alcoholic aftershaves give me irritation and redness. So i use a very light balm. And Use a very thick cushiony lather.

For 2 months now, I've had BBS shaves everytime using a combination of Feather Artist Club SS Japanese style non-folding straight razor w/Pro blades for 1 to 2 passes (WTG/XTG) then followed by a combo touch up pass (XTG/ATG) using a 1973 Gillette Tech w/Feather blade. These have been the best, longest lasting, most enjoyable shaves I've ever had. I'm a new Feather AC straight razor user & am having fun with a new toy. The shaves are so smooth that I need to shave only 2 to 3 times per week. I'm getting 8 shaves per AC Pro blade and up to 10 shaves per Feather DE blade. The AC Pro blade does most of the work.
