Feather RG - Blade Questions

I have a new Feather RG - was a Kami style but I stuffed into scales.

In a CJB, I tried Kai Milds - and recently Dorcos in the Feather.

The Kai Milds were waaayyyy nicer to my skin than these Dorcos.

Question - what's the smoothest blade you've tried in these shanks?

The Dorco can be a little harsh for the first shave or two. Did you just try it the once?

I like the Feather professionals and the kai milds, but I also like the Proguards.

I have tried (in order of preference):
- Dorcos (worst)
- Feather Light (OK on RG - terrible in SS)
- Feather Pro
- Feather Pro Guard
- Kai Mild
- Kai Mild Guard

YMMV, of course, but for me, the Kai blades have been nicer to my face.

Ive found the same with the Dorco blades, first shave with a new blade better be on your game, after that much more forgiving.

Havent tried the others, Got some dorcos with the CJB

I've gotta find some of those Kai blades. I like the Feather Pro and the Pro Super but it'd be interesting to try something different.

Edit: may have found some...will report when I get to try them.

Thanks guys - I'll see what Pasteurs has on hand as soon as I can get there.
If I can't get Milds there - I'll try online.

Tried the Dorco again tonight, same issues but a bit better.
I love the way the FrankenFeather handles - just need to find the right shiv..

I just received some Kai Captain Titan Milds and did a test shave. Got a little eager and didn't prep super well. Still, I think the blade did a very good job--as well as the Feather Pros. I suppose more practice with them will tell me whether they're slightly better or slightly worse, but the difference is small. Both blades are pretty effortless.

Locally I can get them for slightly cheaper than the Feather Pros (around 5-6usd), so I'm very happy they work well.

For me the Feather Professional Super is No 1, then the KAI Titan Mild Pink, then the Feather Professional, Dorko is last, but works really well in the Cobra SE razor.

I normally use feather pros, I have tried the kai captains and found I really had to be switched on.
I have dorcos but haven't tried them yet as I'm still hooked on my TI

I am convinced that the blade you practice with will give the best results. I started out trying all of them Pro-Guard, Light, Pro, Pro Super. They all worked great after using them long enough to get the hang of their 'personality'. I have decided to stick with the Feather pros just for the cost per blade savings. I am quite pleased with my choice. I have been pif-ing the others one at a time to B&Bers who want to try them. I guess I'm trying to say, choose one and stick with it and you will be satisfied. JMHO
