We males like the challenge of shaving with an SR/shavette, but slashing your face is always a risk. I keep telling myself to approach the face with the spine first with a slow, gentle, and steady hand constantly watching the blade angle and stretching the skin. -Do I always remember?? It's easy to be mindful of this at the start of the shave, then sometimes I allow my guard to come down and 'ouch.' For me by experimentation it has necessitated retorting to pre shave products to increase protection, slickness and 'cushioning' which help minimize the risk of error -I tried various brands and products and now conclude that Vaseline (petroleum jelly) or coconut offer me the best solution with shaving creams and soaps.
