Feather All Stainless Blade Replacement

Anybody else find blade replacement a scary process on the Feather All Stainless razor?

The head design covers the sides of the blade, making extraction of the old blade challenging. Seems like a dicey proposition to me. Anyone else?

Look at the instructions..Head down flat..unscrew handle..lift of bottom plate ..pick up blade by edges..Really no big deal..as usual be careful picking up sharp objects.Practice makes perfect..it is a wonderful razor worth spending a few minutes learning how to load and unload ( like a gun )

I don't own one of these, so I have to ask, when you say lifting the blade by the edges, I assume you mean the non-sharpened portions, correct?

Haven't shaved with it yet, but it seems like you could just turn it upside and let the blade fall if you were that worried...

Good suggestion. I have tried that, but the blades don't fall out like they do on a Merkur HD for example.

Same thing when grasping the edges, really tough to get the blade off.

The screw and thread tolerances are really tight with the hole in the blade center. That is why I find the process so risky.

I haven't had much trouble with grabbing the sides of the blade. If you're having trouble, I'd try a toothpick for lifting a sharp side up to grab the sides.

Have you tried different brands of blades, blade slot/holes aren't identical.
Also your blade cap might lack sufficient clearance.

Best suggestion I can make would be something with two neodydium button magnets glued to it that will grab the blade for you. I'm guessing the stainless steel of the razor won't be anywhere near as attracted as the blade will be.
