@SterFry AFAICT, the head geometry is identical between the older DX and newer SR version, but DX is a more luxurious, premium product, especially the one with real wooden scales. In terms of usage, there is (IMHO) no difference.
Personally, as someone who owns Japanese style SS, my preferred choice would be the DX/SR western style, but with resin handle, instead of glossy plastic... can't have it all I guess
TL;DR: get the SR, save significant amount of money.
