What's new

Favourite EDT is making me physcially sick

I have been a fan of diamonds for men for a few years now. Matter of fact its the only EDT I have used really for the past 2 years. Usually I just shower twice a day and dont bother with any kinda of fragrances etc but when Im heading out on town or an interview I'll always give a spray or two of Diamonds. So maybe once a month I use it.

Anyway. A few months ago I noticed it was leaving me sick after a few hours. Complete with headaches, lump in throat, feel like vomiting etc. At first I thought maybe I was putting too much on. So instead of the usual 2 sprays I started using 1 spray and still same effect- except it takes a bit longer for the sick feeling to kick in.

I was going to buy a new bottle of something else, but I thought Id ask here first, incase maybe there is a certain ingrediant that is known to cause this, I'll know to avoid it.

Also, Im wondering could it be that its "gone off". As I said, I bought the biggest bottle I could find and have had it for probably almost 2 years now and it never give any trouble until a few months ago. Maybe its been lying up too long.

Nobody can tell you what it is that is causing your sypmtoms. you need to see a professional on that for your allergies.

But here is what is listed in Diomands for men

Top Notes:Bergamot, Sichuan pepper, Lemon
Heart Notes:Cocoa bean, Cedar
Base Notes:Ambrox, Gaiac wood, Vetiver

There are many great colognes out there. I really think we can find you a good one if you describe what you like and what you are willing to spend.

Without seeking medical opinions you can just stop using it and see if your symptoms go away. Don't use any cologne for a week (or more) to give it enough time to make sure it is not something else in your environment. If you stop and you are still having these symptoms, see a doctor.

Cologne typically will not "go off" I cam across a 8 oz bottle of 4711 that I had not seen in over 30 years and it was just fine.

I have had a few that just make me want to vomit but nothing that has left me ill. A*Men for example is just so gross I can't eat, it's a major scrubber. I agree with others, stop using it for a month and see if it goes away. There are thousands of alternatives to choose from. That notes list is tough to go on because many of those "notes" are not single notes but accords and/or composed of synthetic ingredients so it's hard to point a finger at any one thing. That Szichuan Pepper looks a bit guilty though!

Stop using it, period. You're making yourself sick; odds are it's one or more of the synthetics in the blend. Like Chandos says, there are so many alternatives out there -- you can smell great 100x over & not have to get sick in the process!

Agreed. One of my favorite EDT is Floris Vetiver. I wore it at Ft. Benning, GA a few years ago when I was running a fever and feeling bad. To this day I feel a little nauseous when I wear it.

Please be so kind and enlighten us, what's the purpose of your monthly town visit?
BTW, I'm sorry for your scent connected symptoms.
