Favorite type of razor

I am curious of what type of razor the visitors of this forum likes most between Open Comb, Solid bar and Slant. If you are using an OC slant, put it into the slant category! "Clubs" like BOTOC, BOSS etc gives some clues, but not enough.

You might like several, but imagine you would participate in a happening where you will be away a couple of month and you can only take one razor with you.

I like both open comb and solid bar razors, but my go-to is my iKon OC. I sometimes skip a day or two and I feel that an open comb deals better with the longer stubble.

I am abstaining from answer my own poll until my slant razor is coming (any day). I have not had the pleasure to try a slant yet. I definitely like more open comb than solid bar, even though I use both.

I have about 40 open combs, 30 straight bar razors and 8 slants but I use open combs most of the time, I use slants once in a while and almost never use a straight bar.

I voted solid bar since that is all I have used. After voting I noticed that solid bar and open comb were tied.

Open comb. I have not found a SB yet that will shave me as closely or with as little irritation as an OC. However, I have high hopes for the Weber I just ordered.

I like them all however I would have to say that I go with the solid bar the most.

I am 95% or more open comb. Maybe one shave in 20 is with a solid bar razor. I tried a slant, it wasn't for me. It worked great out in the open, but the geometry didn't work under my nose.

I have a Merkur Slant, a Tech, a Superspeed, and an OC Gillette Old. Even though I haven't been using it for very long, if I went away and could only take one, it would be the slant.

I like both OC and safety bar razors but I would say my 2 favorites are both Super Speeds, 40's style and red tip, but my SC New is a close third.

My favorite razor after 37 years of wet shaving is an Open Comb Double Slant with Differential Aggressiveness. Meaning one side is more aggressive than the other. Work the two sides, and BBS is easily attainable with one lathering.

I like a few open combs but I voted solid bar because my favourite razors are all solid bars. I don't find open combs to be the awe inspiring, super close shavers that some guys find them to be.

Tally my vote for open combs, with the NEWs coming out on top so far. Still haven't gotten my hands on a slant though, so just comparing to the solid bars.

I started out with SB razors...then I tried an OC razor, with some trepidation because of all the cautionary advice in all the forums. I have now migrated to OC razors now as I like the shave and feel of them. I still have my SB razors, but any new razor I get will most likely be OC.

Safety bar I only use with certain old blades, and I would say I am probably @ 95% open comb. I use a safety bar when I shave with old Personna generics from the 70s and 80s.

I enjoy all 3 types and mix up my rotation, but the one that is on top, that gives me a smile before and after the shave, happens to be a solid bar.
