Favorite shave soap and why ?

Tabac

I find it incredibly easy to build a creamy, luxurious lather from it. Like many others have said, it has become my standard by which all other soaps are judged. I find that it strikes a good balance of slickness and cushion. It isn't the most moisturizing soap around, but I always follow with witch hazel and balm anyway. The affordability doesn't hurt, either.

Did I forget to mention the scent? :001_tt1:

Right now, my favorite is Provence Sante'. Out of my 5 soaps, it is dense, creamy, easy to lather, and has amazing glide. I had it sitting around for a few months before I used it, and it really took my shaves to another level. Is it the end all and be all? I don't know, but from now on, this is the benchmark for me to judge other soaps.

MWF- I find it very easy to build a slick, protective lather. Nothing I have tried leaves my face feeling as smooth and soft as MWF's combination of tallow and lanolin.

P160. I'm not sure which kind I have since I bought it off another member but it is simply amazing with smell, performance, and ease of use.

+1

Everything he said.

Another Tabac vote. I love my Fitjarsoaps in Amber and Vanilla, but Tabac has grown on me the last year. It seems to last forever, has a scent you become to love, and the most important, the lather is pure luxury, especially if warm from a scuttle, it gives me a great shave without nicks, and the porcelain jar is very nice also.

So if I should be condemned to have only one soap it would be Tabac.

3 way tie for me.

Mama Bear Masculine Musk - Good soap, easy to use and smells AMAZING
Geo F. Trumpers Coconut oil - Soothing scent, slick lather
MWF - Super conditioning for the skin, and lasts forever

I don't have many soaps but of the ones I do own i'd say the Palmolive shave stick which I milled into a tub works the best for me. It's cheap and yet I think it out performs even Tabac

Vintage Williams because it's, well, vintage Williams! I'm currently using a puck that was made in the 50's. I also have another 50's puck still wrapped in it's box and one from the early 60's also unwrapped. I'd like to stockpile a few more so I keep an eye out for them at antique stores.

As to modern soaps I'd have to give the nod to Palmolive. I milled two sticks into a plastic bowl and it always performs perfectly.

Trumper's Coconut or Limes.
I can get nice thick slick lather with it every time.
no effort needed to get great results.

Trumper's Coconut. I love MWF, too, but I guess I have an attachment to my first quality soap. I really like the Arko and Speick sticks. They have different scents but provide a cushiony, slick, dense lather quickly with face lathering.
