Faux Framebacks?

I acquired a razor from eBay.

Do you go about honing these the same as any other razor? I would assume so but wanted a clear answer.

Got it cleaned up pretty good and I'll be honing it up in the next day or so.

Yes, it's the same. However, with a real frameback, you might need to be careful, since the frame is often made with brass (otherwise a steel that is softer than the blade), which thus wears more quickly than the edge.

What he said^

Older framebacks are pretty beat to hell because of this and have a nasty habit to crack right where the two meet. This is from years of usage so no worries if it's a newer one.

One more question. I worked on this razor for quite some time and it seemed like I got nowhere fast. It reminds me of a small wedge that I did not long ago. I got an ok shave from it but I'll have to re-hone it for sure.

It's more work then a full hollow for sure, but not that bad IMO.
But it being a Törnblom, you might have to do some extra laps just becaus eof that.
From the 10 or so Törnbloms of various grinds I've honed, my experience is that they have very hard steel in general, a little harder then most other brands.
Might require some extra time on the hones just because of that.

I figured so, I'll continue on with it later on today. It is some hard steel, that's for sure. It should have a very long lasting edge too.

Had to go back and do some edge restoration on the 220 side. Just finished up an untold number of strokes/circles on the 1K side and it is FINALLY shaving arm/leg hair real good.

Finally got it done, here it is.
