FaTip Picolo with different length combs

I have been using my FaTip Picolo every day for the last two weeks & it has been providing the best shaves that I have ever experienced. This has been the only razor that I have been able to shave my lower neck ATG with & not get any irritation at all.

I will freely admit to not being particularly observant & when changing the blade yesterday, I finally noticed that the comb was noticeably longer one one side. I wondered if this was by design, or just part of the somewhat idiosyncratic manufacturing processes employed by FaTip? Do other FaTip owners have this same feature & if so, how do you use it? For example, is the longer comb better for ATG passes as it must be a bit milder? So far, I have just been alternating between sides when they get clogged with soap in the normal way & I can't say I have noticed any difference between the sides in terms of shaving performance.

This may be a defect, can u return it?

There is a lot of tolerance in the Fatip Piccolo. You have to check the cap and blade position before nipping it up. You should end up with an even exposure on both edges. It is a little annoying but I am used to it now.
I think that is what you are referring to. Have you a picture?

The longer comb side is on the left in the photo below. It is about 2mm longer than the comb on the right hand side. Both combs are straight, so the razor gives a uniform blade exposure & is not like a slant. The amount of blade sticking out from the cap is the same on both sides. Now I know about the difference in comb lengths, I can feel a slight difference, but it is negligible. I could send the razor back, but it is a FaTip & the replacement would most likely have a worse defect!!

I checked my razor and the cap does not always centralise. That is because the hole in the base plate is over size so the cap can be locked nearer to one comb than the other. The blade locating pins are similarly cast under size. Bottom line is there is a lot of slack in this razor.

IMO that isn't necessarily undesirable. You can have one side for wtg and xtg and the other for atg. Is the aggression markedly different side to side?
