What's new

Fathers day came early

Recently returned to the use of DE razor's and will not be looking back.

I've been so caught up on the craze of a better shave it appears my famiy has been caught up too as they have showered me with gifts for my birthday and now Fatther's Day to support my new found habit.

This week have received the following:

My Birthday received a new progress, and immediately sent to Eric for the Progress upgrade and now in my hands
1.5 scuttle in Randy Red from Dirty Bird Pottery with drizzle port
Spalding Maple custom brush with 24mm Super Silvertip knot
Bullgoose 25mm Butterscotch beehive horsehair brush
Mama Bear's new Lime Cilantro in wood bowl and Lime Cilanto Ice

Gotta love a family who is willing to support a new habit!

While a hug, a handmade card and breakfast in bed is great, I gotta say...this is better.

I just got that same brush, btw. Haven't used it yet, but I have the white beehive in dyed horsehair and it's one of my favorites.

Happy daddy's day.

Wife got me a stainless steel brush/razor stand. Nothing big, but after looking at me like I'm crazy every time a new soap/cream/razor/brush showed up, definitely a step in the right direction.

Have put the scuttle twice now and have to say really like the addition of the dribble port. Has made my lathering so much richer and fuller with a drop or two of warm water. Have really noticed a difference with the two tallows I have tried so far Mystic Waters Coconut Lime Verbena and RazoRock Napoleon's Violet. If you get a dirtybird scuttle highly recommend you have this added as it does not cost extra to have her add this port. Should add I owned a Robert Becker 009 scuttle for eight days before I knocked it off the counter and broke the handle and brush holder\water spout, and the DB 1.5 holds the temperature better and over a longer time frame that the Becker scuttle.

The spalding maple has better backbone than I expected for a super silvertip. It is a really nice brush and gave it a test run with Mama Bears Cilantro Lime Ice. Can tell this is going to be a favorite soap for me even though I lean towards tallows. Very nice aroma, nice cooling effect and a slick/smooth shave.

Haven't tried the Mergress out yet as I am expecting some Medical Personna's any day now and for this, this blade seems to work the best for me so far in smoothness and normally get 7-8 shaves out of a blade before I notice they start to drag on my face.

Sure is nice to have an appreciative family blessing you with such gifts!

I particularly like that scuttle - maybe I should drop hints to SWMBO about a replacement for my Moss/Bonneyman piece (no, I couldn't actually drop that scuttle to cause deliberate damage - I traveled to Nova Scotia for it personally!)

Happy Birthday (and father's day), lovely kit to move forward.

A recommendation if I may? Unless you have lots of counter space, pick up some non-stick shelf liner and cut a square to go underneath the DB 1.5.

Like minds think alike Robert. Though I knocked off my old scuttle with a full length body towel when I whipped it around my body, I thought I better secure this scuttle down if at all possible. My whole house has wooden floors and use carpet tape to secure about a dozen rugs down so I cut off four small patches and placed on the bottom of the scuttle. May take a look at the contact paper as it should be thinner than the indoor carpet tape, though right now it is hardly noticable
