This just ended on eBay, A FatBoy for $142.50. Any thoughts? Is this a fluke or is this an indication of prices to come?

I don't get it... Maybe they just get caught up in the moment.
I snagged a nice one without a case for $28 last week. Didn't realize this was such a smoking deal at the time.

Was it complete?
What was the condition?
How well did the seller present the razor?
Sometimes you get lucky, there's a buyer or buyers with money burning a whole in their pockets.
Back when e-bay identified buyers I sent a 1/2 dozen buyers messages that I was selling a identical item to one they'd just lost out on.
They all bid on my auction and I made more money then I thought I would.
BTW. The auction was for a vintage ambassador fishing reel not a razor.

Haven't been following the Fat Boys that carefully (I'm very happy with my Super Speed and Aristocrat), but it looks like the price generally is following condition and extra goodies like cases - at least initially. Since I'm a shaver, not a collector, I look, admire and then be happy with what I already have.
I think I saw this one. Wasn't it supposed to be in unused condition? IIRC, the pics showed a pristine razor.

It was not listed as unused and the lid of the case was cloudy. The photos and presentation was excellent though. I have noticed that this guy doses a good job with his items. 
Certain sellers consistently get the highest prices for their razors. There are no secrets. It's pristine razors with large, very clear photos and a following of noobies that drive up the price in their silly bidding games. Check out the bidding on this one.

That is certainly a beautiful Fat Boy...But I just can't see paying that much for one! I have had several friends start wet shaving in the last year or so...really do to the economy and the price of cartridges!! 
As I have used a Fat Boy for many, many years...that's what I hand them to try it out...Now they all have fat boys! I have helped them out finding some on the bay (before I joined the forum, of course...I've seen some very fairly priced ones here in my short time)..As one gent mentioned above, you can still find a nice one in the $30-50 range on the bay....but those are getting pretty hard to find!!! I just picked up a very nice "Trio" of adjustables....fatty, slim, and black handle, on one of the forums for $80...All look beautiful in the pics...I really just wanted a pristine looking fat boy shaver...mine is quite ugly and I have used daily for over 10 years. In short...Stick with the BST! I see so many great deals offered every day from brushes and creams to razors. Such a great place!!

I don't know if the razor is worth $142.50, but I read somewhere that the seller makes a great soap.

Meh thats cheap he had one that went for well over $200 it was supposedly NOS with sealed blade pack/instructions.
