Fatboy Adjustment Knob stops at 7

I recently received a FB. I noticed that the adjustment knob only turns from 1 to 7. Knowing that I could try to ask for some help from you guys I did not put any force into turning it. I have been using hot water and Scrubbing Bubbles to clean the razor but have not been able to loosen the knob. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks for the help.

I had few that have similar issue, a fatboy and a couple of supers. They all still had soap gunk inside. You can soak it overnight in hot water and simple green OR do the boiling thing. Even soaking might not be enough, i resorted to getting a cheap ultrasonic cleaner that really does the trick. This one had been cleaned soaked and heated and still wouldn't go past 4 properly until after its sound bath (thats simple green solution in there). Didn't want to boil the super, but you can do that with the fatboy.

I also found that squirting WD-40 liberally into and around the adjuster knob and working it (the knob) carefully through the range also dissolves a fair amount of soapy gunk, then soak it after that to remove the WD-40.

I would agree it is most likely "gunked". Patience . . . don't force it . . . just try to dissolve the gunk and you will be rewarded.

A good soak in something like scrubbing bubbles for a couple of days followed by good rinse and a soak in very thin oil will perhaps clear it out.

I've had a few adjustables with a similar problem. One was pretty beat-up anyway, so after soaking it for a few days I tried forcing it just ever so slightly past where it stuck. I figured it was no good as it was and wasn't worth much anyway. I found that after forcing it the tiniest bit, then backing it off and returning it to soak, the next time I turned the adjuster it went easily to where I had forced it the last time. So I repeated the process, going a fraction of a turn each time and eventually got the razor to where it would go from one to nine with no trouble. I tried it on another couple of razors (which were in nicer condition overall) and it worked with them too. I think the keys here were patience and restraint. It took me days of soaking and a dozen or more tiny tweaks, but it did work. Anyway, that's my experience FWIW.
