Fat boy question. re: cap

Looking to add a fat boy to my collection soon but want to get the correct year.

I've seen it mentioned before but can no longer locate the thread. Is it 1959 (code E) that has the screw cap at the TTO or does it span a few years?

cheers.

is it a E1 or 2?

the way you can tell is look at the underside. there should be 2 notches those are screw on's i think

if its flush and dosent have 2 notches then its a press on cap. not sure when they stopped doing it with the fatboy, however, the slim has been doing it since its inception; at some point (i've been reading on it a little yesterday lol) gillette started capping the fat with press on's, lame isnt it?

This is what you are looking for. I think Ds and Es. The only F models I recall having a notched locking nut were Bottom Dials and Red Dots.

There are F coded Fatboys with the notched retaining ring.

It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me though. I've not seen any G coded one with the two notches.

Sorry for jumping in this thread with a question but I heard that earlier Fatboys was a little more agressive, is that true and if so, why?
Not really. The advantge is you get to adjust for the agressiveness you want. 1-9. A razor built like a tank.

Earlier vs. Later: Earlier FatBoys unscrew for disassembly while later ones must be forced apart.
