Farewell to a Soldier

Our youngest son's friend, Mack, stopped by last night to say goodbye. He is off to Afghanistan with the USMC. Although he is only 19, he is already a committed wet shaver, using either a straight or a DE. Since he recently lost a few things, we loaded him up with a Vie-Long 13061 brush, some GFT rose shaving cream (his choice), and 50 blades (Feathers and others). (He is taking his Merkur DE.) We baked and ate some cookies and even watched some Geofatboy and Mantic59 videos. (He insisted!) We also turned him on to B&B. Hopefully he will join and post when he is able.

Apparently, the Marines are required to shave daily, even in combat, and he is prepared to do so--at 3 or 4 am, in the sand, and even dry if necessary. (He has already practiced that!)

Godspeed, Mack!

May God protect that soldier and hopefully he will log in here for some morale boosting :)

We wish Mack and all the others who are in harms way on our behalf Godspeed as well. It sounds like you gave him a nice send off and equipped him well. I hope that we will hear from him soon.

Regards,

Doug

The Marines are a particular bunch; as Elenor Roosevelt said, “The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!”

I'm sure he knows there are plenty of shipmates here that will send him whatever he needs over there.

Thanks to him and all of the others who are serving their country for us! Elenor Roosevelt was right on in her statement about the Marines. :tank:

Please have your son convey to his friend Mack that God will keep him safe because He is watching over him from a distance...Semper Fi.

Hope Mack enjoys his time in the dust.
I did my time in the tropics and it was hard enough staying clean shaven there.
