What's new

Family picture

Greetings all - I just received the razor on the right-hand side of the picture below, and decided it was time for a family picture. From L-R:

Dovo Bismarck, 6/8 full-hollow
Genco, 5/8 full hollow
W&B Bow, 11/16 half-hollow (re-scaled)

The Bismarck was my favorite, but the first shave with the W&B Bow today tells me there's going to be a little family friction!

P.S. I keep them in the same drawer, hoping that a new one will appear, but no joy yet.

You even have a sexy strop to go with them . Nice razors Bro! Bismark is swedish steel, never met a swede that was not a killer shaver. The Butcher has been Jnatized by the good Doctor IIRC. Man knows his way around a Jnat for sure.

Jon- huh? you talking about the bible? is that what OP strops on? is that the next new thing? cause i don't have one of those yet...

That's EXACTLY what he's talking about. Gives you those "holy smokes" edges

Or....he could be talking about the killer TM strop he sold to me on the BST :thumbup1:

I was thinking about the origin of Dovo steel. I have a Favorit that is Swedish steel too, but made in Solingen. What does that mean? I always thought that Solingen Steel was made in Germany.

AFAIK The razor was crafted in Germany, but in this case the steel itself has been sourced from Sweden.

Where do you find this information? I'm more used to the knife world where, for the knives I bought, information on provenance and type of steel is readily available and often stamped on the tang. I don't see anything like that for the straight razor.

OK....hit me with it...I'm sure it's on the first page of a simple google search
