Faded Goatee

Hey guys! Figured I'd toss this out to the masses. Any tips on how to trim a goatee that fades? I'm hoping to have it be around 1.5 to 2 inches off my chin, and fade it down to a short trim mid cheek. I've been eyeballing it, using a comb to set angles, then cleaning it up afterwards. Seems inconsistent, might just need practice. Do you guys have any secrets or tips?

I cant do it either but the last barber i went to used the different size addapters to work it dont along with a comb to use as a wedge.....
