my only experiance of face lathering was using a synthetic wilkinson sword brush and wilkinsons blue bowl soap, not very good at all, bowl lathering with soaps and creams from then on, last night i decided to give it another go with vie long horse bush, erasmic glycerin soap, 46 aristocrat with wilkinson blade, what a differance, a great shave, i think face lathering with some of my hard soaps will be on the cards from now on and bowl lather with the creams.

Don't discount face lathering with creams also. I like to rub a little C.O. Bigelow in and lather away. I quite enjoy the sensation.
+1, where I am we are short on space in the bathroom, so face lathering is all that I do. Creams can be face lathered too! And in fact I find it easier on clean up, as you don't have to swish around in the tub and then clean up the tub threads or anything.
+2 I use TOBS shaving cream to face lather. I just dab a bit here and there and then lather away with a wet brush.
I think it gives the "user's" face a pretty good exfoliation. That is why I prefer to face lather than use the bowl for lather building. YMMV.
I face lather most of the time. I just like skipping the hassle of making lather in a bowl just to end up putting it on your face.
