Face lathering

So, having had good results with my Palmolive shave stick, for the last week I've tried face lathering with other products and... I can't see a benefit to using a bowl. Proraso cream was ridiculously easy, squirt a dollop into a damp brush and rub on face, but I had similar success with other creams and soaps that I tried.

Not only do I find it easier to get a rich lather because I'm not tempted to aim for quantity rather than consistency, but it saves time because I'm losing a lathering step and not having to wash the mug afterwards. I once dismissed face lathering as the preserve of crackpots, but I have seen the light! (Or joined their ranks!)

I do feel a bit guilty about not using my mug though as it was a present from my wife.

I got moves like Jagger
I face lather 99% of the time as well. The mug can easily be repurposed as your brush scuttle. That's what I do with my Williams mug.

You can face lather and still use a mug. I have a couple of mugs around, all with a puck of soap in the bottom of them. I guess that they're just glorified soap dishes. Once I pick up enough soap, the brush goes on my face. I don't think that I've ever used a bowl for making lather.

I occasionally face lather, but get better results either palm or bowl lathering. I prefer the palm or bowl for a couple reasons. I have got irritation/brush burn on my face in the past from face lathering with both boar and badger brushes. Palm or bowl lathering saves the skin on my face. can mix in the palm or bowl as much as I want, and then once I get it to where ai like it then I can apply it to my face. I always get a better end-product from the bowl or palm, the results being a more dense, rich and thick lather as opposed to what I get when I face lather.

I was always used my scuttle until I was really pressed for time a few times. I did a face lather and it turned out really nice. Since then I find myself doing a face lather most of the time, and it still works out well. I'll still use my scuttle when I really want a nice relaxing experience however.

It's how I remember my Dad shaving, rub the Eramic stick on and then shave. It's how I've always shaved. Even with canned stuff, straight on the face to lather up with the brush. I do have a couple of soaps in the palstic dishes (Omega, Erasmic, Col Conk) which for me as a shower shaver work well too.

I started face lathering in June and haven't looked back since. I have two very nice bowls that need to go to B/S/T.

I started face lathering when I was trying to get the MWF to work and once it did that was it.

I do still use my bowl though to soak my brush prior to the shave so it still gets used.

I face lathered for the first 40 years of shaving.

Only recently have I been using both lather creating methods (face and bowl).

Both work fine for me and I can "switch hit" daily and not miss a beat

I seem to be making a transition to face lathering as well. After 8 months of bowl lathering, I was pefectly happy but, having tried face lathering for most of my last 10 shaves, I can see that this will be my main method. At least for a while.

I face lather 99% of the time. The only times I don't it is because I want the warm lather I get out of a scuttle my brother gave me.

Needs milk and a bidet!
i never face lathered till i got VDH soap. and after several unsuccessful attempts to bowl lather with it, i went straight to the face after loading and BOOM! now with my cream/soaps i only bowl lather when i want to reminisce. face lathering gives me a better shave, more time with the brush softening my whiskers.
