Face lathering with a cream?

Absolutely, I face lather about 99% of the time, creams & soaps.

When it gets colder in my neck of the woods I sometimes like to whip up a nice bowl of warm lather.

Yep. You can even use cream like a shave stick, sort of, by taking some cream, applying it to your beard by hand, then lathering it on the face with a brush.

This is a particularly handy technique with hard creams like SMN and especially Castle Forbes lime.

Sure you can!!

I actually tend to face lather almost all the time with my creams which are in a tube: I kinda find it natural...
No mess, just squeeze a little dab on the tip of your brush and hit yer ol'ugly mug!!
Very good results with Palmolive Euro Classic or Speick.

Curiously, whenever I take cream out of a tub, I have bowl at hand that I'll end up building lather in.

Enjoy!

Yup...do it all the time with TOBS Almond, Trumpers Limes or DR Harris Lavender Tub. Works great and quicker, IMHO than soap! (But I love soap too...)

Yes. I've pretty much given up using a lather bowl. It's only used now to soak/warm the brush. Here's my technique for both soaps and creams:

Soak/warm brush.
Shake out vigorously.
Load soap/cream from container.
Lather face.

I add water by dipping the tips of the brushes in the soaking bowl, do a quick flick to get rid of extra, and then keep lathering until a nice consistency.

The nice thing about face lathering with creams is that it uses less cream.

The only times I use a lather bowl now are for creams in tubes (Crabtree & Evelyn, Trumpers).

I face lather almost exclusively. The only exception is when using a large floppy brush that doesn't work well with face lathering.

Pretty much the same way I do it.

I face lather with my hard creams, like Acqua di Parma and Castle Forbes, I guess I need to try it with a soft cream and see how that goes.
