Face lathering, and going back to the puck

For all of y'all that face lather with soaps:

Does your initial loading in the brush last you for all of your passes? If I can't get my initial loading to last me my 3 passes am I doing something wrong? (if so what would I be doing wrong?), or is it perfectly normal to go back to the puck for 5 seconds or so in between passes?

Thanks for the help

I've gone back to the puck from time to time, but usually get enough for three-four passes with ease. I think I may be a little rough with the brush, though. I definitely lay it on heavy when I work the puck.

I hit the puck before every pass. It's what works for me.

Depends on the soap as well as on the brush but in general (when both brush and soap are 'broken' in) I have enough to go for three passes after the first loading of the brush.
Some soaps however do need revisiting it before each new pass.

I think a lot of it depends on the brush.

Nobody's watching and there are no extra points for 'style'. If you need to reload/recharge the brush, then do it. I usually can do a full shave from an initial brush loading, but I don't hesitate to go back to the soap if I think I should.

I use a small brush (rooney type 1 size 1) and though I can make enough for 2 passes I only try to make enough lather for one pass, and remake it each pass. There's no mess and no waste that way.

I usually need to reload for pass #3... Sometimes it's all right...

Depends on the soap. With most I can get 3-4 passes with one loading of the brush, but with a select few soaps I need to reload.

I do three or four passes and never go back to the puck when I'm using my regular rotation soaps (PdP, MWF) but sometimes with my main auxilliary (Tabac), which totally disappoints me.

One loading is usually good for 3 or 4 passes. Sometimes a reload is required, especially if I'm doing my head as well.

There's no shame in re-loading the brush, especially if you are using a boar brush or want a nice protective lather for that 3rd pass.

I usually reload once. But I try to get the exact amount of lather needed for a shave and so far I've been off a bit.
