Exide Hone on Ebay

edit: link to ebay removed

I know that the terms ask for no ebay linking in case a member is bidding on an item, but seeing as this has no bids, I thought I would risk incurring the mods wrath even at so new a stage. I read the review on the Exide Hone and it seemed amazing. I was wondering if any of you had any idea about the hone in the auction. I'm sure it's not flat and needs some work, and it seems small (says it's only 3 1/2 inches long). Does anyone think this would work in any manner for a razor? Is it even worth considering purchasing? This ends early on Monday morning, so any quick replies would be greatly appreciated.

The review was about the combination hone. The Exide listing on eBay doesn't specify whether it's a combo or a single grit. If it's a single grit, then you need to know whether it's the coarse or fine side. I suggest you contact the seller regarding these questions and these: send photos of the entire hone on both sides to your email address and are there are any chips, cracks, or indentations.

If you get a response that it's the fine stone and the photos look good, I say go for it. The size is similar to the photos in the review so as long as you can handle it, it should be fine. I wouldn't bid more than $20 but I also have many whetstones in my collection. You can decide it's worth to you.

In that case, you need to decide whether it's a risk worth taking to bid on a stone whose grit you don't know, and how much of a risk you're willing to take. Good luck!

well I opted not to bid. Better of spending more money and knowing what I'm going to get than spending less and hoping for a good result
