"excuse me sir, do you have any proof of age?"

so i was recently in morrisons buying some personna blades and palmolive shave stick (the best i can get locally) and upon making it to the till i was asked for I.D, i did have my I.D so i was ok, but it got me wondering, how old are you? im 18. quite a few of you seem to think im just complaining, well i am :) but also i really would like to know how old you guys are, just out of interest as to what age group is common on B&B.

I bet they wouldn't have asked you if you bought fusion or mach3 cardridges. And they do much more damage.

Don't worry, they will probably soon ban them on safety and health grounds.

Get yourself a straight and put it in the cupboard while you can.

These things and a few other petty state controls will really upset you as you go through life. Let it float over you, you will find there are more important things to worry about.

You know, the price of beer for example. Another thing they won't sell you without looking at you as if you are a criminal.

Keep smiling.

I'm 18 too. Why would you need to be 18 to buy razor blades? Jeeze, there are so many more dangerous things you could buy instead.

now that is really strange , that one needs his id to buy razor blades.

Its ok I get it all the time. I am almost 25. I have been wetshaving for 8 months. I am now a traditional wet shaver, method shaver, and occasionally use straight razor. I have been teaching people in various ages about wet shaving.

That's always funny. I think I was 26 last time it happened. I was buying a bottle of wine, freshly shaved (no sideburns) and got asked for my driver's license. I thought it was funny but all right. While I look for it, the girl told me, nah, that's all right (without looking at it). I told her, she wants to see it, we will do this properly.

I guess she saw her boss that's why... No idea what happened there. However, it never happened that I was asked for ID to buy shaving goodies...

As for the age, there was a poll...

I've noticed Morrison's and Asda both have these warnings about age where they sell their DE blades (all of one variety - for me Asda has personna's and Morrison's Wilkinson Sword). But I was sure it was 16, which seems reasonable enough. I imagine they think you're going to fashion some deadly weapon with a blade. The same logic applies when taking stuff on a plane.

I just turned 30 and was recently asked by an Asda check-out person if I was over 25 because I was buying alcohol. I said yes, looked suitably flattered and no more was said about it!

Around these parts there are stickers that note if you are under 35 you should anticipate being carded. Some wording to that effect.

I'm 28, been wet shaving for about 3 months now using a straight, though I started with a cheap DE. I'm origionally from Missouri, and I used to have to show ID there to buy blades (used 'em for various things around the house).

I've heard of 40 being the cut-off point in some parts of the US. Sometimes makes me wonder why they don't card some people who look under 40 before they get into the driving seat of a car. It would make only slightly less sense.
