Has anyone ever used Eversharp Stainless DE blades? I just picked up eight packs, four blades apiece, total 32 blades. Grand total, $1.20. Just wondering if anyone has experience
with them.
Eversharp owned schick so I assume they would be as good as vintage schick blades from the 60s as I have never tried them they would probably have excellent longevity
That package looks very similar to the Schick Platinum blades I used to buy in the 80's and 90's. If the blades are the same you are in for one smooth shave. However, the Schick blades I used to buy came ten to a pack, not four. I haven't got around to buying an injector so I can't vouch for those (Chris's post).
Super Chromium Krona-Chrome blades were made between 1967 and 1970. Schick decided to drop the phrase "Krona-Chrome" between 1970 and 1971, and the new Super Chromium blades appeared in almost identical packaging. The newer blades looked inferior because they lacked that luster that can be seen on the Eversharps and Krona-Chromes.
The Super Chromium blades did not have a high chrome stainless appearance (to borrow their phraseology) like the Eversharps and Krona-Chromes. Instead, they advertised the chromium coating, and it took a couple of years before the new chromium blades appeared in a redesigned dispenser and blister pack that was distinct from the Krona-Chrome. The packaging just got worse and worse. I have no idea how they compare to the earlier Krona-Chrome though.
The Schick Plus Platinum packaging and blade dispenser originally included the phrase Super Steel, but this was dropped in the early 70s, and there was never a clear reason why. It might have been due to the recession and a surge in the price of precious metals and related commodities. In terms of longevity, the Plus Platinum was better than the Super Chromium.
I believe I have some of these and was trying to figure out if they were early Eversharp or later Krona Chrome blades. They came in this wrapprer style
