ever ready razor

hi all
i guess this is in the correct place
i have full in love with the look of these ever ready razors so i decided to take the plunge.

just a few questions.

1) whats the shave like compered my open comb gillette abc ?
2) is there away of know the age of her?
3)do you have any experience with them?

In my limited experience.

They are very easy to shave with, a 2 pass shave is all I need and its the smoothest shave I can get.

I have a british made long handle version and a USA made short handle.

Not sure on age, but I'm sure I read somewhere this model was so popular it was made until the 50's

1) Compared to your OC ABC.......YMMV. A cop-out I know but some people love a 1912 and others have lesser shaving skills
For me the 1912 is a lot smoother than my Old Type OC.

2) According to posts made by MacDaddy and HoosierTrooper you're looking at early 1930s.

3) Up there with the finest razors ever made. I have a slight preference for a 1914 myself, but most others think the 1912 is better.

Thank you again haggises looking forward to try her. I think RAD is getting the better of me but not my wallet what dose LOSER mean if you don't mind me asking, however I agree ymmv I must admit on looks a quality you can't beat vintage.
I know my 1914 shaves beautiful best shave I have had beats the ej89 hands down .

Make sure you can get a pack of blades pending arrival. See the blade thread, though it's pretty US centric. Not sure what your options are in Blighty.

Single edge blades have a spine along the back and a single shave edge. They are thicker, stiffer, and hold an edge longer than a thin, flexible DE blade can. They are similar to "utility" knife blades used in paint scrapers, but made to higher standards.

Sounds about right Jeff,I just ordered from Connaught's for the first time yesterday,a couple hundred Single Edge Stainless Steel, PTFE coated Razor blades.Great price,looking forward to receiving them.

I think you'll be pleased. Their price differences are sometimes shockingly lower, even considering shipping.
