Ever-Ready 600 synthetic - when did they make these?

My Dad & I stopped at a rummage sale on the way to a steam engine & threshing bee show and I found an Ever-Ready 600 on a table. The lady said, "That brush is 100 years old and I remember my Grandpa shaving with it". I realized she had either had too many Bloody Marys for breakfast or she was just full of hot air. Anyway for $5 I bought it. It cleaned up magnificent, but I'm not to keen on the nylon bristles. While they actually work well, I want a good boar knot in it. I'm curious though as when the 600s were produced? Can't find squat on the brush. 60's, 70's?

Thanks

Nylon was invented in 1938 and was first used in shaving brushes (Generation 1) shortly after WWII. They quickly fell out of favor due to canned shaving cream and a harsher feel compared to boar and especially badger. More than likely this was made in the late 1940's through the mid 1950's. When you look at old drug store ads from the 1950s Canned shaving cream started to heavily replace brush sections of the ads in the mid to late 1950s.

Thanks for the info, seems scarce. It's a nice handle so I'd like to re-knot it. The tortoise shell effect is pretty cool.

Excellent handle.

Here is one that I have reknotted with a two band which made it a really great performer.

When you get one restored right they really become a show stopper.

Very nice indeed! I have restored 5-6 brushes, but I'm a bit apprehensive about drilling this one and wrecking the inside finish.

I was wondering when you would show up.

Guns, it will be interesting to know what type of knot you will be thinking about getting for it.

My collection is 60/40 Badger/Boar right now. You find a good one of each and they are keepers. "Thought" I might do a nice boar knot, but I am having a hard time finding something real appealing. TGN tips heavily on badgers and I'm not rolling the dice on eBay to end up with an old paint brush bristle knot! I'm in no hurry.

Well the reason why I bring it up is because maybe you should consider a TGN 3 Band Synthetic or a Muhle V2. It started out Nylon and so maybe it needs a Gen 3 or Gen 4 knot.
There is always people like Rudy Vey who could do the restoration so you have plenty of choices.

I did not care for the TGN boar, but that was a few years ago, maybe he has some newer ones now, they were way to stiff for me. Mr. Carrington's idea of a Gen 3 or 4 synthetic sounds pretty neat.

I think you guys have a great idea. The 3 band synthetic knots look very nice. Don't have any experience with performance. I reckon it is quite a bit better than the old nylon knot in it now.

I'm thinking this 24mm..

The 24 mm is one of my favorites. Just be sure that the handle can accept a 26 mm (+2 mm for glue bump insertion) and it should work well.

Here is a C-40 I did using this brush which has become one of my favorites.

Here is a Lord Chesterfield I restored for Bobcat with the same knot.

Very nice brushes. What can I expect from the synthetic? Similar to badger? I assume it is softer than a dry boar.
