Ever-Ready 100 Red & White

Heyoka, I really like what you did with that red handled brush.

I have a brush identical to this one and wondered if you think that if I used Brasso and Flitz that I could get what looks like bone now, to be that brilliant white color ?

thanks.

Mine wasn't as dark as yours when I started. It's hard to tell if it's really the same color. But if you're going to replace the knot anyway, you can always test it on the inside of the rim to see what it would look like.

I kind of like the bone color though. I'd be tempted to just clean it up with soap and water and then see what you think. It looks like it's in really good shape as far as no chips and dings.

Beautiful job! What type of file did you use to smooth out the two "egg shaped" pieces? I have three brushes I plan on restoring and two have those mold lines.

I used an emery board. (A cheap nail file.)

Disclaimer: There were a couple of times when I thought, "Okay, that was pretty stupid." And yet somehow it ended up okay. When you file something, you can't change your mind later. If you google it, "unsandpaper" has zero hits. (YMMV, yada yada.)
