Eton College Tub vs. Tube - Differenct Scent

I was nearing the last squeeze on my tube of Eton College recently and picked up a tub while at Merz Apothcary in Chicago (great place). Anyway, when I cracked the top on the tub, I was immediately struck by the scent which was totally different than that from my tube. Same great lather, but definitely a different scent altogether. The tube had a much "spicier" scent (not sure how else to describe it) and the tub was much more subdued and, well, just different. The tube was maybe two years old and I am wondering if the formulation changed, or if anyone else has ever noticed this?

Phil from bull goose & I had the discussion about the 3ts tube & tubs. I told him I did not think they were the same & he said that sometimes he agrees with me on that issue. I also think the same issue with samples. Point in case T&H. I love their rose but the samples of rose I have are not the same as my tub. Go figure.
