Erasmic cream scent

For those who tried both, does the current Erasmic cream smell anything like the old formulation Erasmic tallow stick?

Is the current production Erasmic cream any good or it got "improved" like the stick did?

I have never used to old tallow stick, so I can't comment on it. The new cream (purple label) smells like a cross between the Erasmic bowl soap and the old formula cream, with the emphasis on the soap. The new cream has a citrus/lemon scent with a slight old school powder note. The fragrance changes a bit when lathered, the citrus/lemon drops out a bit and the powder comes up a bit. The scent sounds strange, but it works and has a very classic sense to it.

All the fragrance descriptions are to my nose, YMMV.

Happily this is a reformulation where performance did not suffer.:w00t: The new cream lathers really easily, and it is slick and protective. They may have botched the stick reformulation, but they did well with this one. I would not say that the new cream is better that the classic metal tube, just different, but it does what it is supposed to do, and does it well.

As an aside, the new cream tube has twice as much product as the old metal tube, 150 ml vs. 75 ml respectively.

Having not used the old formula stick myself, the NOS cream could probably be considered a "barbershop" or "old fashioned" scent; It's growing on me, but I still place the scent as laundry detergent/fabric softener. :001_tongu

That said the lather is simply amazing! :001_tt1:

The old formula shave stick and the new original Erasmic Supreme shave cream are very similar in scent, if not the same, its just that I haven't used the stick for a while so can't say its identical for sure but it is very similar.

The old metal-tube Erasmic shave cream smells exactly like Arko Commando Shave Cream, and very similar to WARS. It seems to have an understated 'soap' smell with what seems to be a rather soft component of 'Cinnamon'. At least it smells that way to me.

Anyway, I like the fragrance.

Arko Commando you say ... yummy! Now which one is a better cream in terms of performance? Arko Commando or Erasmic? The Turks or the Jordanians?

Erasmic has the best smell of the things I have tried, however I guess I am biased as it reminds me of my Dad when I was a boy.

I like the soap in the black dish, I am dissapointed by the original shave stick (tallow) I find that it doesn't lather well??

The new Erasmic range is terrible IMO, the cream gave me a burning rash and quickly found it's way to the bin.

I favor the old Erasmic, but like the Arko line, too. Each has their own qualities. I think the Erasmic gives a more enjoyable shave with a beautiful lather. I also think that the Arko lubes better and softens whiskers better, and gives a better (closer, more comfortable) shave.

"Erasmic Supreme" is only available in the UK AFAIK. So if you see a tube that just says "Erasmic" it's the old cream.

My skin is pretty sensitive, and I like the new "Erasmic Supreme Sensitive" shave cream. No burning rash or anything of the sort for me. I have not tried the regular Supreme though.

I can tell you that the old Erasmic cream and Erasmic Supreme regular are completely different scents. The old cream has a powdery barbershop scent with a hint of candy citrus. Erasmic Supreme regular smells exactly like the old Erasmic glycerin soap in the black plastic bowl. It's a citrusy eau de cologne scent...possibly similar to 4711 maybe? If you look at the ingredients of the Erasmic Supreme creams you'll notice that they are very similar to Creighton's made creams like the 3Ts and Real Shaving Co. There are no problems with lathering this stuff...I've said this over and over but no one seems to get it. Lots of unfounded speculation by people who haven't even tried it.

I have never tried Arko Commando, but I have tried the old Arko Sensitive. I can tell you that old Erasmic and Erasmic Supreme Sensitive both perform much better than the Arko. I would assume all Arko creams perform about the same since the ingredients are nearly identical except for scent. Arko cream is more like a budget, no frills shave soap that comes in a tube. It doesn't have the kind of cushion and lubricity you get from a good shaving cream. Nothing wrong with it but there are many creams that I like a lot better than Arko.
