English Gillette tech Question

Hi Guys,
This is a question for the Gillette experts out there.
Does anyone know why the English techs weren’t called techs in England?
I’ve seen some new old stock English techs from the 60’s and 70’s on eBay and the packaging just says Gillette 3 piece razor.

I have no idea, but have found the aluminum version that says “Made in England” to be my favorite!

I have no idea either. The British Techs are pretty darn good razors. I like them especially the flat bottom Techs.

Ditto Australia, India, South America AFAIK. It was collectors who decided to lump together all these razors as Techs even though the early British razors did not reflect the key aspect of what was contained in the US patent for the Tech (diamond stamped sheet metal). Krumholz I think just avoided categorizing the transitional British razors. Waits just used the bar guard as the distinguishing factor which US collectors followed..
